A 72-years-old man identified as Pa Nelson has died after falling from a palm tree in Boeglay Town, Grand Bassa County.

According to the chief of Boeglay Town, Mondyu Mark-Fish Garmondeh, the incident occurred on Monday, July 13,  when he was informed by some of the residents of the Town that  Pa Nelson had fallen from a palm tree.

The 72-year-old deceased was later rushed to the Boeglay Town Clinic, but due to his condition, he was later referred to the Liberia Agricultural Company Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Isaac Garmondeh, a resident of Boeglay Town who was nearby when the incident took place, said he heard a sound as though a palm cutter had dropped a bunch of palms, but after a few minutes, he heard someone yelling and eventually realized that it was Pa Nelson.

“I fell from the tree,” Pa Nelson told him [Garmondeh], thus prompting him to raise alarm for help.

Emmanuel Nelson, Jr, the oldest son of the deceased, said his late father’s work on the farm was the source of income for the family, meaning his death has caused a setback for the family.
