Margibi: Laworta Public School Building in Messy Condition

Deplorable conditions at the  Laworta Public School in Margibi County is denying over seven hundred fifty pupils access to school.

The school which has leaking roof, open ceilings, damage or no chairs, doors, bath rooms among others is at the verge of collapse due to years of no renovation by government.

Our reporter who visited the area said, the Laworta Public school when it was in operation served over sixteen towns and villages providing education to kids.

Currently, our reporter said, most of the students since the  closure of the school  are now venturing into farming and cutting palms while teenage pregnancy is on the increase.

The residents who spoke to KMTV wants the Liberian government and Education Minister Prof. Ansu Sonii, Sr. who was appointed by the Liberian leader George M. Weah to intervene quickly.

Expressing disappointment, Mr. Morris K. Mulbah, General Town Chief of Laworta community said, it is shocking to them because the Education Minister is a son of  Margibi and he is not contributing to the  school system.

He said, the school was constricted by the Ministry of Education doing the presidency of former Leader Ellen Johnson -Sirleaf  but is now abounded under the administration of football legend  George M. Weah.

The Town Chief blasted the Education Minister Prof. Ansu Sonii for not properly mentoring  the day to day activities of the education system and said, it is posing serious problem to their children learning activities especially under the pro poor agenda for prosperity and development.

“The Education Minister is not doing well for the people of Margibi especially a please where he contested more than two times” Mulbah explained.

Residents of Margibi County are expressing serious disappointment in the Liberia Education Minister for what they termed as “poor performance” in the Margibi County School system.

They called on national government to quickly intervene by renovating the Laworta Public School in district #4 Margibi County.

Laworta Public School is about 25-mile away from Margibi County capital Katata City.
