MediaAid Foundation which runs the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Kakata YMCA Youth Center for partnership on key educational programs.
At the signing ceremony on Monday, Media-Aid Executive Director of Titus Tokpah says, with the launched of the program in Kakata City, MargibiCounty, young Liberian aspiring journalists will now have the opportunity to obtain formal knowledge in the journalism profession.
He said as an institution established to provide hands on media training, Peter Quaqua School of Journalism is committed to unleashing the full potential of every young person desirous of becoming a professional journalist.
The Peter Quaqua School of Journalism-PQSJ Kakata Branch will run from the YMCA Youth Center.
Under the MOU, MediaAid will provide some professional services including training opportunities to interested students and staffs of the Kakata YMCA Youth Center.
According to Titus Tokpah, the opening of the journalism school in Kakata is as a result of an assessment carried out by MediaAid Foundation in 2019, thus establishing the need for media education in Kakata and its surrounding.
“We though it wise to have a branch in Margibi, and so it’s a blessing we came across the Kakata YMCA youth center Coordinator Mr. Moore Zinnah, and there are lot of good things in the MOU Tokpah stress’’
While signing the MOU, Mr, Tokpah called on both institutions to work for the success of the partnership.
Also speaking at the signing ceremony, the County Coordinator of Kakata YMCA Youth Center, Moore W Zinnah described the partnership agreement as a new day for the media in Margibi County.
He maintained that with the launched of MediaAid Foundation in Kakata City, it will enhance professionalism at the local level.
Mr.. Zinnah, also used the occasion to admonish journalists in the county to explore the opportunity being provided for personal growth and advancement.
At Monday’s signing ceremony, MediaAid Founder/Executive Director, Titus W. Tokpah, Sr. signed on behalf of his entity, while the County Coordinator, YMCA Youth Center, Moore W. Zinnah signed for his institution.
Meanwhile, Ms Lorina Kolleh, Alumna of the Peter Quaqua School of Journalism-PQSJ has been named as Coordinator of the Kakata Branch.
