Christopher C. Walker reports.

Kerlie Miller an executive of Football in Liberia has declared his intention to contest the presidency of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) during the Association’s Elective Congress slated for this month.
Mr. Miller, who formerly served in several positions at Mighty Barrolle Football club to include: caretaker, Team Manager, Secretary General and more, told reporters in an interview that he hopes to take Liberian football from its current status to the top of Africa and the global village at large.
He also formerly served the youthful National team of Liberia, LoneStar U-20 as Administrative Manager, he added that clubs empowerment will be top on his agenda if he wins as President of the LFA.
The former President of female club Antares Sisters in the LFA National League, noted that women football will be empowered with that segment of Liberian football controlling their portion of the FIFA Financial Assistant Program (FAP). “Female clubs will no longer be ordinary. They have suffered too long. They must be empowered and control their portion of the FAP,” he stated.
The young football administrator who is currently consulting stakeholders of Liberian football said grassroot football is the best way to improve football in Liberia.
“Going to the LFA presidency is not just about me. It is about the improvement of the world’s most beautiful game in this part of the world. I’m currently engaging stakeholders and my mentors about my ambition for the LFA Presidency. I have contributed immensely to the development of Liberian football,” Miller indicated.
Miller who is full member of women football is urging female clubs to see him as their own because he came into football through women’s football.

However, it appears like he may have a huge task to perform owing to the fact that one of the presidential candidates Rochelle Woodson who also has a solid background from women’s football and has been advocating to the fullest to see the improvement of the game from that sector maybe a stumbling block to his strong hold.

His reliance and support base from the women’s football end analysis say maybe divided due to Rochelle’s involvement into the elections as well.

The youth football administrator said it is time the Liberian league be counted high in Africa because there are talents that needs to be showed outside Liberia.

According

to reports a top endorsement ceremony for Mr. Miller by several clubs is said to be in the making soon

as preparations are ongoing.

His declaration for the presidency came barely a day after the elections and appeal committees of the Liberia Football Association were inducted into office to kick off operations for the next four years.
The election committee is expected to shortly release time table for the conduct of the March’s election.
Other confirmed names to contest the LFA’s presidency are:current Vice President Musa Shannon, LISCR President Mustapha Raji and executive committee member Rochelle Woodson as other names in subsequent time are expected to be released later.
The election is considered crucial owing to the solid sporting background of Liberia’s current President and chief patron of sport sports George Weah.
