Montserrado County District 16 Scholarship Foundation Launched


In an effort to fulfill his campaign promise Montserrado County District 16 Representative Dixon Sebob has launched the distric 16 scholarship foundation.
The focus among other things is to ensure that more young people in the district and Liberians in general are educated and can subsequently help contribute their quota to their mother land.
According to Representative Seboe his initiative is also to send out a clear warning to others that good things can come out of the Borough of New Kru Town including other densely populated districts and communities unlike what had been perceived in the past.
He bragged that his life and acheivements thus far is a living testimony as such he encouraged the beneficiaries to see the opportunity given them as a priviledge adding that it is time for them to strive for academic excellence.
Passing he asserted is not the issue now rather execellence which he noted will help move and further prepare the young people of Liberia for future task.
He advice the parents to play their part in the exercise by encouraging their kids not only to go to school but to stay in school and strive for academic excellence.
Under the scheme about three hundred students from the district are expected to benefit from phrase one of the initiative for academic year 2018/2019 from about twenty five communities in the district, Lawmaker Seboe said.
Over the next six years he assured his people that the process will continue hoping that at the end of his tenure about 3000 children will be educated in his district.
He clarified that he was not involve in the selection process rather the community leaders because his focus is to promote transparency,accountability,academic excellence and to as well maintain his high standards which he has kept from the Bank,Government circle, Private sector (Lonestar Cell MTN) and now the national legislature.
“I am one of the serious lawmakers and i and some of my young colleagues are working together very hard to change Liberia for the better”, Dixon noted.
Due to the current commencement of the school year and as testimony of his statement 700,000Liberian dollars about 25% of each beneficiary payment will be distributed to the targeted schools beginning September 15,2018.
Also speaking at the program was Francis Dopoh of district three Rivergee County who branded children as lasting reserves not natural resources as such he call on each and every citizen to see the need to invest in the children and or young people to ensure that Liberia has a solid future,adding that now is the time.
The scheme which is said to be the first of its kind in the district is expected to benefit about 300 students from 48 schools as parents and students in the district just could not hide their joy and appreciation to their lawmaker.
The scholarship according to one of the parents has brought great relief to her especially as a single parent with six children to cater to.
The most serious lawmaker as he is referred to in his district has reinterated his commitment that he will not fail his people as the scholarship campaign fulfillment is just the beginning of more to come in the coming years.
