Ganta, Nimba Country – Mr. Odoshall Oldpa Karnue has been named the new Sports Steering Committee Chairman of Nimba County ahead of the 2020/2021 National County Sports Meet.
Nimba Superintendent Nelson Korquoi made the announcement at the Nimba Intellectual Forum on Saturday, July 11, in Ganta, Nimba County.
The Ministry of Youth Sports has announced December 12, 2020, as the kick-off date of this year’s county meet, subject to approval from health authorities.
Mr. Karnue is the CEO of God’s Willing Incorporated, a dealer and one of the highest suppliers of petroleum products in Nimba County. He replaces the two-term serving Mr. Adonis David Menlor.
His appointment has been met by mixed reactions from citizens with some welcoming the decision while others claimed Mr. Karnue is a novice to the Sports Steering Committee post, in fact, some lamented that the new appointment was a confirmation of a recent allegation that the businessman bribed the Superintendent with US$7,000 in order to earn the post.
Both Supt. Korquoi and the new Chairman, Karnue ruled out Mr. David G. Mentuah’s accusations terming it as a mere distraction.
Others appointed include Madam Alice Kpahn and Dahn Kapeyea Dennis were as Chairman and Chairlady of Nimbaians in the diaspora respectively.
Both Madam Kpahn and Mr. Dennis live in the USA. Madam Kpahn owns the Alice Fashion House, while Mr. Dennis is the president of the diaspora Nimbaians under the banner, United Nimba Citizens Council (UNICCO).
