Liberia’s Minister of Education, Prof. Ansu Sonii, has said there will be no promotion for Students after the Covid-19.
Minister Sonii said Schools that are giving assignments to their students on the basis of promotion are doing it at their own risk.
The Minister said, the academic calendar of 2019-2020 school year has already been disrupted by the deadly pandemic, therefore take home assignments are not quite enough to cover the curriculum for 2019-2020 school year.
Speaking on a local radio in Monrovia, Minister Sonii warned School administrators trying to promote students on the basis of something he described as ‘mere assignments’ to stop with immediate effect.
He siad, the the Ministry will take serious action against schools promoting students when classes resume.
“All schools, Public, Private, Faith-based and Community, shall remain closed until the health authorities deem it safe to reopen and begin physical or on campus activities,” Minister Sonii said.
Mr. Sonii encouraged all school administrators to remain calm amidst the deadly pandemic and observe all health measures, noting that students should remain focused and make use of every learning opportunities while awaiting total end of the virus.
