The Chairman of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), Alexander Cummings on Wednesday, during a nationwide address, slammed the George Weah-led government, saying that Liberians are suffering due to lack of leadership in the country under President Weah’s government.

Mr. Cummings cited the level of poverty, corruption, upheaval, and backwardness in the country as pieces of evidence. He said the country is confronted with three pandemics, Poverty, Rape, and COVID-19.

Quoting the World Bank 2020 report, the opposition leader said over half of million Liberians living conditions are expected to drop below the poverty line and will live on less than L$280 a day putting the poverty rate at over 64 percent.

“Our ship is sinking, too many of our people are suffering, we think this is wicked and threatened the long peace of our security,” Cumming said.

Throwing more jabs at President Weah and his leadership, Mr. Cummings said the ‘Pro Poor Agenda’ is now making Liberians poorer, why those in government are enriching themselves.

He said the CPP is deeply troubled by what is happening in Liberia and in such regards, they have merged to change the narrative in Liberia in a more positive way by unseating the Weah government in a democratic election to come. “We will make you one-term President.”

Cumming said the CPP believes that the country cannot continue in backwardness, greed, corruption, stating: “the root cause of poverty is corruption.”

The CPP political leader also alleged that the government of Weah is breaking down the integrity institutions by defunding them and appointing unqualified people in top positions.

He named the General Auditing Commission (GAC), Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC), Public Procurement Concessions Commission (PPCC), LEITI, amongst others

The opposition leader, commenting on the status of education and health in the country, said Liberians are facing numerous hardships in seeking health and education.

He said the Weah government is “so wicked” and has drastically reduced the health and education budget. “Mr. Weah has failed our country and people, the CPP desire to build up our country. Any serious government will minimize corruption, this governed is too irresponsible to even care.”
