President George Weah Arrives In The Country, Recommits Government To A Vibrant Agriculture Sector

President George Weah has re-emphasized his government drive to a vibrant agriculture sector.

According to Deputy Presidential Secretary Smith Toby, the Liberian leader is upbeat to see the sector revamp for the betterment of the people.

Speaking to reporters at the regular presidential update Tuesday Mr. Toby said food security and poverty alleviation are among key priorities of the Weah led government something he noted his administration is working on tirelessly to address.

He clarified that recent dismissals of former Agriculture Minister Dr. Mogona Flomo and the Director General of the Central Agriculture Research Institute Dr. Marcus Jones has no mismanagement and or corruption link as maybe perceived in some quarters of the Country.

Mr. Toby told executive mansion reporters that the Liberian leader is very concern about the agriculture sector and wants to see a robust and visionary team to run with his vision in the interest of the Country

At the same time Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Smith Toby said Massive preparation is underway for the celebrations of Liberia’s 172ndIndependence Day program.

Speaking to executive mansion reporters Tuesday Mr. Toby said ahead of the celebrations about five West African Heads of States are expected to grace the occasion with Nigerian leader Mahamudu Buhari already confirmed his participation for the celebrations.

According to Mr. Toby this years’ independence program will be unique as the dedication of key projects are in the making.

He said the pending arrival of the heads of states will help boast the nation’s economy. 

Meanwhile the Deputy Presidential Secretary told reporters that Liberia’s fifteen years (15) of uninterrupted peace is a success story for the United Nations.

He said President Weah’s government remain committed to the promotion of peace and security and will abide by all local and regional instruments.
