President Weah Reinstates Deputy Minister Eugen Fahngon

President George Weah has reinstated the Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICAT), Eugene Fahngon with immediate effect.

President Weah suspended Deputy Minister Fahngon on May 6, 2019, after the United States Embassy in Monrovia in a statement said It was

“equally irresponsible for people within leadership positions in government or the ruling party to promote such division as Deputy Minister Eugene Fahngon has done on social media,” adding, “To take such a public stance and suggest it is a private opinion or a personal right reflects a misunderstanding of the nature of public service in a democracy.”

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Weah warned Minister Fahngon and all Government officials to take their work very seriously and operate within the confines of their respective duties.

  1. Seriously? This President must be inherently stupid, especially at this critical time in our Nation’s tragic history to reinstate Eugene Fahngon, a man who was at the center of unwarranted divisive comments.

  2. Surely this indicates the requirement of a social media policy to be put in place? Or is there one and it was breached?
