Members of the executive will now have to double up and tighten their belts very well in order to dance to the practical implementation as well as performance and mandate of President George Weah.
According to Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Smith Toby the Liberian Leader George Weah looks firm, practical as well as very concern about deliverable especially with cabinet Ministers in his Government.
Mr. Toby told executive Mansion reporters on Tuesday March 3, 2020 that President Weah wants to see members of his cabinet roll up their sleeves to ensure that they get tangibly involve with their respective activities in the best interest of the nation and its people.
He said contrary to performance, Dr. Weah is resolved to name and shame those officials of government who fails to dance to the performance beat of his government.
“Step up to your game in order for us to deliver and make our people smile”, Deputy Press Secretary added.
On the order hand he disclosed that the Country’s chief executive will also award best performing Government Line Ministries and Agencies including officials in a move to motivate them to do more.
As evidence of his practical move in said direction, President Weah on Monday March 2, 2020 awarded a purse to the Ministry of Public Works as the best performing Ministry under two years of his Administration.
With smiles flowing over his face (Minister Mobutu Vlah Nyenpan )and his able team during the brief presentation and appreciation ceremony, the Liberian leader used the occasion to encourage other officials of his government to emulate the good examples of the Public Works Ministry.
As obvious, the Ministry sits at the strategic priority end of the Government under pillar four of the Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development and has been over the period working hard to ensure easy access of Liberians through the connection of pave roads, something the president noted was commendable.
He pointed out that despite some constrains government ministries are experiencing, President Weah was equally impressed with Minister Nyanpan’s and his team splendid performance over the period.
He at the same time urged them to do more for the benefit of the Country.
In a related development resettlement packages for the plan demolition work for project affected persons along the Roberts International Airport Highway to ELWA road project will begin soon.
Currently the Ministries of Finance and Development Planning and Public Works are not concluding arrangements for the commencement of the exercise which will subsequently pave the way for the official start of the 94.5 Million strategic RIA TO ELWA road project which is expected upon kick up to be dedicated in 2023.
Meanwhile at a brief meeting to discuss some bottle neck issues which at times slow down road projects across the Country, Smith narrated that President Weah on Monday also met with key stakeholders in the sector to include: The Liberia Electricity Corporation, The Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation and partner, the World Bank to find a workable solutions to some of the challenges in the sector rather than blame game.
At the meeting President Weah according to Smith urged the parties of interest to coordinate for the smooth implementation of road projects as the World Bank as part of said endeavor pledge its support to roads, electricity and other development projects in the Country.
