Ahead of President George Weah and his entourage arrival in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, Over 10,000 Liberians based in the United States of America are said to be planning a historic welcome ceremony for their Leader.
“We can’t wait to see him and we are very excited due to his meaningful contributions to the lives of his people and the Country as a whole said Ambassador Saa Thomas Jr.
He told Kmtv Julius Konton that all is set for what he considers a Tumultous welcome for Dr.Weah.
Speeches,remarks and many others are all planned and schedule for the occasion,Saa noted.
The political activist said the program is gear towards recognizing and motivating the President for his level of work done so far especially in the area of youth development and empowerment.
He said with the love and developmental approach by the President there is no doubt that without political distractions and interferences the pro poor government will succeed.
When ask about a plan demonstration by other Liberians in the USA calling for the Establishment of a world and economic crimes court in Liberia Ambassador Thomas noted that his kinsman are entitled to their views but indicated further that it is not timely for Liberia now.
He urged Liberians to give the pro poor government a chance to deliver.
Saa at the same time lauded the effort of the Liberian leader for timely constituting the special presidential committee to investigate the money and containers saga.
Mr.Tamba however challenge the committee to work in time to provide the necessary information to the people regarding the current unfoldings as a good sign of fighting corruption and promoting transparency and accountability in public sector.
At the same time President Weah in the wake of the money saga reiterated his promise to his people that he will not let them down.
He appeal to Liberians to give the investigation a chance assuring that the pro government is committed to fighting corruption in public sector and promoting transparency and accountability in his government.
Meanwhile the Liberian leader is expected to arrive in New York City on Sunday for the UNGA and will address the conference on September 26,2018 as the sixteenth speaker at 12:00 noon American time.
It is expected that with the current economic situation in Liberia Dr.Weah will address the assembly on some key issues of national interest.
His address will be the first since taking over as Liberia’s 24th President.
