PRESS RELEASE: President Weah’s Press Secretary Reacts – He claims that he and President Weah have a good working relationship.

The Office of the Presidential Press Secretary of the Republic of Liberia says its attention has been drawn to a story published in the May 15, 2022 Edition of an online platform, Smart News Liberia under the caption: “Where is Pres. Weah’s Press Secretary?”

Mr. Isaac Solo Kelgbeh stated that in the embedded story, the news platform falsely reported that he has endured unfriendly and challenging conditions in the discharge of his duties. They further alleged that the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Mr. Nathaniel Farlo McGill is unkind and has made conditions for his job very difficult.

“I want to emphatically state here that I have the most pleasant and unhindered working relations with President Weah, the Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, Hon. Nathaniel McGill and the Chief of Protocol of the Executive Mansion, Nora Finda Bundoo.”

Additionally, according to a release issued by the Office of the Presidential Press Secretary Sunday, May 15, 2022, the blinkered writer and publisher said he had been restricted by Min. McGill and Ambassador Nora Finda Bundoo in seeing or meeting the President. All of these are completely and totally untrue; obviously driven by political interests, he added.

It stated, “At no time have I been denied access to the President of Liberia, Mr. George Manneh Weah nor does the Office of the Presidential Press Secretary lack the requisite support to function.
“I was duly granted Medical Leave to seek treatment in the United States of America. For the record, I have received and continue to receive massive support from the Office of the President as I undergo my treatment and recovery processes”, the release further stated.

Mr. Kelgbeh at the same time commended the President of Liberia, President George Manneh Weah for prioritizing his treatment and generally for supporting the health of his employees, adding that his treatment is progressing well, and looking forward to returning to Liberia soon.
He expressed his special thanks to the President for his unwavering support during a trying period of illness which has kept him alive to date.
