The world including Liberians now sits on the edge, as days to the much talk about December 30 protest draws nearer, demanding Liberia’s elected President George Weah to step down or ease the hardship in the country.
Situation in Liberia now are worsening on a daily basis according to Montserrado County Senator, Abraham D. Dillon, who is a member of the Liberty Party who’s strongly picking bone with the Weah led government.
Dillon believes that Africa’s oldest republic is not progressing due to national leaders inability to properly govern the country, stressing that everything has gone worse since the ushering in of the Congress For Democracy Change (CDC) government.
“No money in the banks, no one has confidence in the banking sector, investors are not attracted to our country, our nation’s economy is in the septic tank and no hope of reviving it with this current regime of leadership” he arrived.
He said duties bearers responsible for fiscal affairs in Liberia are not trusted and lost confidence of the people they are supposed to be serving due to their massive corruption and don’t care attitude exhibited since taking over the affairs of the state.
According to him, that situation can only become better if Liberia’s Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweh is sack, some structural reforms put in places and that the George Weah government respect the rule of law and allow the justice system to be independent.
Anything other then that Dillon predicts a worsen situation in Liberia and for the over 4million inhabitants in the country.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with KMTV –USA correspondents over the weekend, he lashes at his colleagues in the National Legislature who he says are worshiping the Liberian leader and are not independent in their judgement.
“At the Legislature we must serve the people interest, we must be seeking to ensure check and balance, now it is troubling that Legislators are working only in the interest of the President” he concluded.
When quizzed if he supports the protest on December 30th Dillon said “ I will not answer the question the way you want me to answer it, but the people of Liberia on June 7, 2019 give the government a petition and no response or action has been met by this government”.
Dillion a member of the Liberty Party said, “ The people of Liberian will decide on that day, the citizens will go and ask for his response on December 30. People are dying of economic hardship why the President is flying all over the country.”
Quoting article one of the Liberian constitution, Dillon said, all powers are inherit in the people and was quick to point out that demanding the President to resign is constitutional, “it is up to the president to resign or not”.
He Said Dr. George M. Weah who is President of Liberia must take leadership or quit because the hardship is too much in Liberia.
Printing of New Currency:
Sounding more vocal on the issue of printing new currency as suggested by some of his colleagues and the Liberian Government aimed at helping to mitigate the infliction and hardship in the country, Mr. Dillon shouted, “It is stupid for anyone to think such will ease the situation”.
He noted “If printing money will solve our economic problems, we must print money to construct new roads, medical facilities, for everything we so desired”
He argued that lack of fiscal indiscipline leads to mis-management of the economy, poor governance in the country couple with the crooking of potential investors , got the country to where its economy is now in the septic tank.
For the Montserrado County Lawmaker, reconciliation is lacking under the current regime of President Weah, because the leader of the nation he alleges is preaching messages of hates including members of the ruling CDC party.
Said Dillon ” the President is petti, divisive and a big kid” due to President Weah stands to muzzle opposition and those who speak reality to his face, stressing it is bad for the county.
Dillon claimed the President feels everyone must worshiped him and was also quick to make reference to CDC Party Chairman, who said they will deconstruct any one badmouthing the CDC government.
Dillon also alleges that even opposition who are teaming up with investors efforts are be tarnished once government finds out they are involved .
According to him, reconciliation is demonstration from the heart and it does not means putting opposition in Government. “Reconciliation means respecting people and stakeholders” he said .
He said the CDC government official response to opposition is degrading whenever opposition leaders speaks on national issues.
