The Chief Executive Officer and founder of the Security Expert Guards Agency of Liberia (SEGAL) Momo T. Cyrus said Africa is rich in natural resources but is backward and under developed thus far due to several factors including insincerity and lack of comprehensive empowerment to Africans on the continent.
Speaking Friday January 30, 2020 when he presented his international awards to his company and Country at large, Mr. Cyrus stressed that Africa has huge potential to develop once she puts in place the necessary practical work to move forward.
He observed that over the period Africans received huge contracts from Westerners to do business and for developmental activities but failed to reap its dividend due to insecurity as well as the technical know-how, this he noted needs to be changed.
“We need to re-look at various contracts to ensure that it benefits directly, the people” the “SEGAL’s Boss noted.
His comments were part of his recent presentation as one of the panelists in London, United Kingdom were he had gone to participate in the African Leadership Hall of Fame –Class of 2020 dialogue and to as well receive such prestigious awards respectively.
Mr. Cyrus addressing the media said that the award is dedicated to the hard working and committed staff of “SEGAL” who over the years rendered professional sacrifices to the Liberian people by providing quality and professional security services to the general public.
According to him the award speaks volume of what Liberia can do as a nation and people once there is determination, focus mind, professionalism, trust and love for Country among others.
He said the recognition of Liberia and “SEGAL” is just an ice breaker and an additional appetite as he assured the Liberian people through his Company that he will do more to put Liberia back on the map through necessary initiatives in the best interest of the nation and its people.
In a move to see a new approach in empowering Liberians and Africans, The Security executive wants the empowerment as well as training of legal and procurement officers across the continent to ensure that they step up to their game and do the right professional things possible instead of always bringing on board foreign nationals to do what they can do better once they are giving the space and chance to explore.
Additionally, he appealed to Africans and Liberians in general to practice the spirit of sincerity in all that they do making specific reference to the repayment of loans to other big business people as well as investors.
“I notice that paying back loan is a serious challenge among African Business people and we need to graduate from such and build on the culture of sincerity which our forefathers taught us, Momo intoned.
Mr. Cyrus was the only Liberian to be inducted into the African Leadership hall of fame –Class of 2020.
