State Broadcaster,ELBC/ LNTV Tops First Public Media Rating Report


State Broadcaster owner of ELBC and Lntv have top Liberia’s first public professional research and certified media rating survey report.

The report which was released at the 2018 market day ceremony in Monrovia placed Lntv at the top with a viewership of 190,000 people with a score of 10+ closely followed by Sky television with 70,000 viewers respectively.

The report also ranked ELBC as the most listen to radio station in Liberia accumulating 214,000 average listenership.

According to the report of the five television stations operating in Liberia Lntv and Kmtv were the more watched by males while Sky Tv and Power Tv split evenly across gender leadership.

In rural Liberia the report shows that Nimba Hott Fm tops the ranking followed by Smile fm in Sinoe County, Radio Bomi,ELBC-Bong County and Radio Gbehzon of Grand Bassa County respectively.
The survey was conducted under strictly controlled conditions by an independent international company,GeoPoll which is amongst other things intended to ensure fairness and accuracy.
Since 2012 GeoPoll has been a leader in providing affordable market research from areas that are difficult to access using traditional methods,conducting over 7m surveys per year through mobile phone.

Meanwhile the market day ceremony hosted by Internews and funded by USAID aims to assist the media business growth by providing information that media and advertisers can use to make informed decisions about advertising.

The GeoPoll results show the success of Liberia’s media in serving its target audience.
The release of the report came in less than a year after the new management team headed by Director General Ledgerhood Julius Rennie took over office under the pro poor government.

The new team members to include; Director General Ledgerhood Julius Rennie,Estell Liberty Kemoh as Deputy Director for Administation, Tetee Fukah Gebro,Deputy Director General For Broadcasting and Boima J.V.Boima as Deputy Director General For Rural Broadcasting is said to be making some strides to further improve the state own media entity.

Currently massive construction work which is nearing completion for the main LBS building is on going on the main compound of the Liberia Broadcasting System in Paynesville City as a dedication as well as turning over ceremony will take place soon.
