Liberian leader George Weah Monday submitted a request to the national Legislature seeking the printing of additional 4b Liberian dollars.
The move among other things according to the communication is to address the liquidity challenge facing the Nation and its people.
The money when approved by members of the national Legislature will be infused into the local economy in a move to help address the current economic situation facing the Country and people in general.
Due to the sensitivity and timeliness of the matter, the Liberian Senate plenary forwarded the President’s communication to the committee on Banking and Currency to discuss the issue in a professional faction and is expected to report to the plenary on Tuesday.
Meanwhile The Liberian Senate has agreed to confirm the Executive Governor designate of the Central Bank of Liberia Aloysius Tarlue in executive.
The decision followed the report from the committee on Banking and currency which was read in plenary by the Secretary of the Liberian Senate Nanborlor Singbeh.
The decisive and crucial committee saw seven out of nine voting in favor for the final decision to be made in executive while the two Senators who refused to sign the communication include: Senator Oscar Cooper of Margibi County and Senator Dan Morias of Maryland County respectively.
Experts say in principle, Mr. Tarlue has already been confirmed as it is just a matter of formality.
Mr. Tarlue since his appointment by President Weah has been greeted with mixed reactions from the public with some in favor of his appointment while others say, he is not the best person for the job especially at this crucial economic situation of the Country.
Well the discussion will soon be of the past after the Senate’s final decision on Tuesday as the CBL executive Governor designate has promised during his confirmation hearing among other things to work in the best interest of reviving the sector void of politics.
