To Avoid Pitch Invasion, Youth and Sports Ministry To extend Inner Fence At SKD


Following the world football governing body strong warning to Liberia against the recurrence of pitch invasion, the Minister of Youth and Sports D. Zeogar Wilson his disclosed a plan technical meeting with his staff for the possible extension of the inner fence of the playing pitch at the Samuel Kanyan Doe Sports Stadium in Paynesville.

According to him technical modalities are being work out to ensure the execution of such project soon.

The extension of the inner fence along with other mechanisms, Minister Wilson is confident will help prevent pitch invasion including other potential security issues and or threats during future matches.

“Parameter and pitch as well as security protection is important and should be upheld at all times”, he added.

The Youth and Sports boss use the occasion to commend the national team of Liberia for their qualification to the next stage of the world cup qualifiers.

He said the performance of the team was splendid though there were some challenges but due to their resilience and commitment they were able to make it through.

Minister Wilson a former national team goalkeeper praised Liberia’s savior and young talented goalkeeper Ashley Williams for his brilliant penalty save which eventually led to Liberia’s qualification.

According to him as a goalkeeper especially during penalty kicks to always and more importantly make up your mind and move to a set direction something he Added Ashley did and in a timely faction, thus saw him easily saving the Sierra Leone captain penalty.

He told our reporter that plans are as well in the making leading to preparations for Liberia’s next home match against Chad in Monrovia next Month.

Mr. Wilson at the same time commended officials of the Liberian delegation to Sierra Leone for properly and successfully conducting the affairs of the government sporting related despite some challenges observed while in that West African Nation.

According to him the technical staff of the Ministry including the Liberia Football Association will file an official complain to the FIFA and CAF relative to the manner and form in which the Liberian delegation including the team was treated while in Sierra Leone.

In a related development, the Youth and Sports Minister as former President of the Grand Bassa Association in USA lauded his kinsman for the peaceful and historic conduct of the just ended annual conference.

The conference which brings together citizens of Grand Bassa in the Americas and the globe at large annually address pressing issues of Liberia, the Association including leadership among others.

As a special guest at the occasion Minister Wilson used the ceremony to provide some clarifications about issues unfolding in Liberia unlike what is negatively published on the social media.

He warned his kinsman not to believe everything they see on the social media about their Country back home, terming them as fake, lies and propaganda intended to destroyed the image of Liberia to the outside world.

The conference which was also meant to allow members share their individuals experiences ended with the election of Ishmael Johnson as President of the Michigan chapter of the Grand Bassa Association in the USA.
