VP Jewel Howard Taylor Suspends Three Officials Of The Liberia Marketing Association


Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor Tuesday August 28, 2018 suspended three officials of the Liberia Marketing Association.

According to a press release signed by Solomon Ware Director Of Communication in the office of the Vice President indicated the decision was reached After more than six months of wrangling, claims and counterclaims in the Liberia Marketing Association.

The release named those suspended officials as: Alice Yeebahn, President; Abraham Barchue, Vice President; and Lawuo Hiami, Assistant Secretary General.

Perennial allegations of corruption, financial mismanagement, misappropriation of resources and other acts inimical to the existence of the Association were among reasons that led to the suspension of the LMA’s officials, the release added.

Meanwhile the Government has requested the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to immediately commence both financial and systems audits in order to verify the claims being made.

At the same time Government has also constituted a five-member Interim Leadership Team to hold on pending the outcome of the audits by the GAC.

The Members of the interim leadership are: Jerry V. Geedeh and Henrietta Zorpoe, representing the LMA Board; Antoinette N. Mulbah, representing the Executive Committee of the LMA; Cecelia G. Wuduwelh, representing the aggrieved/contending party; and David Weah, representing LMA County Superintendents.

The release called on everyone to fully cooperate with the GAC for the smooth conduct of the audits in a timely manner.
