In the wake of fears and health concerns across the Country relative to the corona-virus, the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Commission of Liberia has announced a major and massive hand washing campaign across public facilities and other places in the Country.
Making the disclosure Saturday February 1, 2020, the “WASH” Commission boss Bobby Whitfield said they are working tirelessly with relevant stakeholders to get prepare should in case the corono virus surface in Liberia.
According to him the “WASH” commission like other government line Ministries and Agencies including the Government of Liberia in general are very concerned about the global health crisis as such they are now putting in place workable measures to prevent the health crisis.
He told reporters that it is about time that all Liberians work together and erect the necessary health related check points should in case the virus hits the Country.
“Let’s begin and continue our hand washing practice for the betterment of all, Mr. Whitfield”, added.
The “WASH” commission boss stressed that he is confident that with the same team work spirit exhibited during the killer disease EBOLA crisis in Liberia and the region in general, similar can be done to conquer said huge task.
As the practitioners are working around the clock to ensure the best things happen for the people, it is also incumbent upon the people to help the process by abiding by all safety and health related measures, Ambassador Whitfield noted.
Additionally, he indicated further that they will extend their hand washing campaign to local communities for the betterment of the nation and its people.
According to reports, the National Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) has projected about 3m United States Dollars to put in place all necessary safety measures in an effort to battle the killer disease.
Reports also have it that the corono virus is an air borne disease and it is very dangerous unlike EBOLA as such massive and concerted efforts are needed to help safe the Country from another health crisis especially with the vulnerable and crippled economic situation in Liberia.
Currently and due to its dangerous nature the corona virus has been declared by the World Health Organization as Global health emergency.
