” We Are Not & Will Never Be Compromised, Minister D. Zeogar Wilson” Dispels Rumor

Admits mixed views relative to Semi Final fixtures of the National County Sports Meet, The Minister of Youth and Sports D. Zeogar Wilson has clarified contrary to rumor that the Ministry has not and will never be compromised.

“We are a professional people and we do a professional job as such no amount of influence can thwart our professional job”, he added.

Speaking to reporters at a news Conference Wednesday January 22, 2020 Minister Wilson clarified that he or neither his deputies received any calls from the President including duty bearers to change or thwart the fixture in their favor.

He told reporters that President George Weah is the President of all Counties and his only interest is to ensure that the focus of the theme of the County Meet: Sustaining the Peace Through Sports, is realized.

According to him the fixtures of the County meet which was distributed to the fifteen Counties were done by technicians in a proper and professional manner without outside influence.

Narrating further, the Youth and Sports boss said contrary to public perception the fixtures for the quarter finals were prepared in a way that winner of Group (C) which was Maryland County would have met the runners up from Group (A) which was Sinoe and Maryland eventually qualified to the Semi Finals similarly the Winner of Group (D) which was Gbarpolu County would have met the runners up of group (B) which was Nimba County as Nimba played Gbarpolu and defeated them as well.

Additionally as per the prepare fixture for the semi Finals,Grand Kru should have played Maryland while Lofa versus Nimba but after technical analysis, they realized that the four teams, two each came from the same zone as such  should they could not meet.

However, he apologized that the Ministry after their analysis did not inform the public neither the media on time about such decision but that did not in anyway mean that they are were compromised.

Following the adjustment, Minister Wilson disclosed and endorsed that the Semifinals games which begins on Thursday January 23, 2020 at the Samuel Kanyan Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville City will now see Grand Kru Vs Lofa while Nimba Vs Maryland respectively.

Moreover, he justified that as per their regulations 27.0 provides that the organizing committee in case of any provision that is not indicated in the rules, it shall have the right to make a final decision on a given issue and such was the case with the new adjustment.

Meanwhile the champion of the 2019/2020 national Sports Meet Football category will face Liberia’s 1996/2002 National teams in a one day friendly encounter.
