West Pointers To Benefit From Emergency Coastal Defense Force Project

The Government of Liberia is currently initiating emergency response mechanism to address the aggressive sea erosion crisis that is gradually eating up the Township of West point.

Currently, relevant line ministries and agencies of government to include, the Ministry of Public Works, Environmental Protection Agency, The National Disaster Management Agency and the Ministry of Mines are working on technical details to urgently commence the project.

The emergency coastal defense force project upon full completion will save thousands of residents in the Township of West Point from sea erosion.

President Weah encouraged the technical team to swiftly embark on the project.

Meanwhile, residents of West Point commended president Weah for his timely initiative in saving their homes from sea erosion.

According to them, the initiative is first of its kind and will help them greatly.

The densely populated township of West Point is experiencing old age challenge of poor sanitation, extreme poverty, lack of latrine, safe drinking water and many others.

It can be recalled that the last government build homes in Brewerville for relocation of residents of the people but there were mixed views that characterized said project.

Currently, several homes and structures in the township have been wiped away as a result of sea erosion but the current intervention from the government will help address the situation.
