National team captain William Jebor and Anthony Laffor will both feature in the quarterfinals of the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League after Wydad Athletic Club and Mamelodi Sundowns booked their tickets to the last eight of the continent’s biggest club competition.
Both Jebor and Laffor started from the bench on Saturday, March 16, after Wydad beat Sundowns 1-0 in Morocco to finish as winners of Group A.
The narrow victory moved Wydad level on points with Sundowns, 10 points apiece, but finished as Group winners based on head to head away goal, while Sundowns finished as runners-up.
Jebor featured for the final four minutes plus five minutes added time after he was introduced in the 86th minute, while his compatriot Laffor was left on the bench as an unused substitute for Sundowns.
The draw for the quarterfinals of the competition is expected to be held on March 20, as all eight teams await their opponents.
The duo who are always together on national duty, will miss each other on the playing pitch when the Liberia take on DR Congo on Sunday, March 24, in the final 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers match.
Laffor will miss the match due to a match suspension after receiving two successive yellow cards in the Lone Star two previous games.
